My friend Bill Hensler, a fantastic software architect, wrote in his early 20's a tiny shareware tank-fighting game for the Mac. I mean TINY. He drew it himself in squiggly stick-figure lines, and it ran in a menubar applet. Instead of asking for the usual $5 or $10 shareware donation, he asked users to send postcards of their hometown. The little tank game had been out for 8 years, postcards gradually creeping in from across Europe -- when he got his first postcard from Russia.
I want postcards from Russia.
